Random Patient Generator

The Generator was originally a card game created by Dr Simon McCormick to help doctors think about their thinking and identify their biases.

This is a digital homage to the paper version. It’s best played in small groups, with at least one senior-ish person around.

How to Play 🎲

Play solo or get a small group together, then run through these steps:

  1. Generate a random patient
  2. Come up with some differential diagnoses
  3. Decide on your investigations and initial management
  4. Stop and examine why you have chosen your lead differential
    • What cues are you using?
    • What assumptions are you making?
    • What information are you favouring (or ignoring)?
    • How are your past experiences influencing you?
    • How will you know if the plan is working?
    • What can’t you miss here?
  5. Change one or two of the variables (πŸ”€ button).
    • Does it change the diagnosis?
    • Would you investigate or manage them differently?
